Once again Gary Roberts and family opened up the winery for an annual Trop Rock event giving a stage to the Mango Brothers Band (Merritt Island, FL.), The Cabana Dogs (Sarasota, FL.), Donny Brewer (Texas) and Highway 1 Band (Melbourne, FL.) for all to enjoy a tropical afternoon.
There is so much to do at the winery with over six life size games, wine tasting tours, dancing or just relaxing to some great music with your bottle of wine or multiple choice of beers. The feeding machines at the small T shaped pier were a popular break to enjoy some turtle time and baby gator sightings.
Gary Roberts and family designated this years charity to the Trident House for Navy Seals, with $2 per each ticket plus funds raised from raffles to be donated to the Trident House. This Trident House for Navy Seals is located along Indian River in Sebastian, Florida. The home serves as a critical and complimentary peaceful retreat for the families of U.S. Navy SEALs and all Special Operations Forces who need a break or some healing time from a Fallen Soldier.
A truly blessed year for 6 category award winner Donny Brewer at TRMA awards, who gained even more fans during this event. Donny has a stage presences like no other in this genre. The crowd of parrot heads, trop rock music lovers and Summer Crush regulars mixed with a few tourists all becoming one with the phrase “Brewerized.” Donny connected with everyone at the winery with his charm, talent and easy to listen to vocals. You can two step, line dance, conga and enjoy the “Sing-A-Long” time with a Donny Brewer performance.
The crowd was 50/50 of those who had heard of Donny and those that had never heard of him. Like Michelle Brewer says “You just got Brewerized. He hypnotized you. It is what he does without you knowing it.” The crowd all enjoyed an afternoon being Brewerized. Donny was the only solo artist that took the stage and stole hearts at the winery. I saw him give a personal Birthday serenade to a lady in a wheel chair with a medical boot on enjoying the winery with friends.
The Mango Brothers Band did a great job starting us off on a tropical adventure singing popular covers to ease the crowd into welcome to Music on the Vine, it was 11a.m. The Cabana Dogs with Rich “Schooner” McGuire, Jimi C. (veteran country/rock artist), Tea Wallace (Hwy.1 bass) and Cody on drums gave us the music to start our bodies dancing like a “Weekend with Bernie.” The music starts and your body just starts moving to classic covers and original music for the soul. I recommend wearing your grass skirt and tropical shirt so you are ready to dance in true tropic style.
Rich McGuire has created the band that has really let him excel taking charge with lead vocals giving us a great performance. The Cabana Dogs might be a fairly new band, but you can still enjoy Rich’s original songs and some new collaborations with Jimi C. I have always enjoyed Rich’s song “Belle of the Beach” (written some years back for his wife) has a new sound and I must say a wonderful version performed by the group. Call it maturity, comfort or Rich finding his place on stage that has enhanced his personal and professional performance with the Cabana Dogs. Although Jimi C. likes to say we got it and this is a good groove for us. The band with a tropical vibe and a rockin’ roll soul. The perfect blend of sound you can truly call Trop Rock.
Joel and Tea of Highway1Band added Joe (Bat) Battista as their new drummer performing the beats and sounds to true Scotty perfection. Scott Sealers is still recovering and may a ways to go on his path to recovery. Scotty’s performance on drums was an enjoyable performance with his tropical personality and the performance Joe gave was very engaging and cohering to the true sounds of Highway 1 Band. Tropical vibes were alive with all the Highway 1 Band originals. A real treat to see Donny Brewer join the band on stage for a few songs.
Bring your dancing feet and tropical attitude for the simple taste this surfing décor, timeless games, musical winery has to offer. A real Florida gem venue offering an afternoon of memories.
Plans for the 5th Annual Music On The Vine are on the table and will try to keep it in the month of November…… until then, check out the Summer Crush Vineyard and Winery.
