21st Annual A1A Beach Bash: Blended Fun Under The Sun

A1A Beach Bash
All Trop Rock or Parrot Head events begin with their registration or check in process giving you that first impression of “Here We Go.” Registration on a Friday afternoon with free pudding shot greetings and smiling faces connected to friendly hands passing out goodie bags, badges and selling raffle tickets for baskets, a Special Ticket purchase for a chance to win a Flip-Flop shaped end table signed by Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band and sign up sheets for lots of silent auction baskets.

They even had a Margaritaville Beach Cruiser Bike/car bike rack/lots of goodies-booze bundled together up for auction. Badges contained your Name on the front and the event schedule with times on the back. Having an event and hotel all on one property can be a bit tricky after a few jell-o or pudding shots in the system, but thanks to a group of A1A Parrot Head Club members that were happy to help folks transfer from pool side to under the big tent.

John Frinzi played pool side Friday afternoon giving everyone a warm welcome and friendly smile as he entertained happy travelers settling into their vacation mode. John Frinzi could not leave without tuning up the donated guitar that all the Artists who played the event would be signing and strumming a few cords on it to be auctioned off. John Frinzi and John Friday took a few extra minutes signing and playing a few songs for the hard working volunteers in the registration room.

Three Amigos evening chilling under and around the big white tent brought story telling, original songs and laughter. The Mexico popular show “Three Amigos” Kelly McGuire, James “Sunny Jim” White and Mark Mulligan was an amazing house concert setting. Attendees listened and responded to the stories and sounds of the rotating artists.

A picture perfect moment of Trop Rock history being shared with iconic artists and their history in this musical world. During the break A1A PHC President John and wife Tina Farrell announced the club with the most attendance – Phun Coast PHC from Flagler Beach, FL. and the furthest PHC attendees were Dave and Sandi Gillispie from Delaware.

Relaxing under the stars to musically talented artists set us up for a invigorating Parrot Head Special Olympics morning with complementary mimosas by Shore Life Radio and games by A1A PHC. Chair Volleyball, Parrot Pong, Ladder Toss and Corn Hole competitions provided great entertainment for the early birds who came out to see what goes on in the morning sun light.

Always giving high fives and hugs ensures everyone walks away a winner doing this for charity. One team walked away proud and supporting their team by posing with their finger and thumb in the shape of an “L” on their foreheads. A1APHC team took the “Championship.” Creativity and participation is the key to this fund raiser, along with playing nice in the sand box.

Saturday afternoon Taco salad bar, pool side with Murry & Elma’s tiki bar serving 6 different pudding shots and Brent Burns serving his helping of songs we have come to love and introducing us to his new cd “Emergency Vacation” set the tempo for a pool play time.

John Friday gave us his dancing songs and ballots adding some preview songs to be released on his new cd. Always great to hear the oldies we love and enjoy the new music to come. Raffle winners being posted and auctions being announced before heading into an evening under the big tent with Saturday night headliners, Jimmy Parrish and The Waves.

During a break from the high energy performance by Jimmy Parrish and The Waves, A1A PHC President John Farrell shared a emotional moment as he announced the total so far raised for The Alzheimer Association was around $14k. This brought their total to the largest to date at the 21st Annual Beach Bash. The band played on and the dancers began to dance with more enthusiastic steps then before. Sending this evening under the white tent to a memorable end of star gazing and fund raising.
