Avocado Margarita

There’s nothing so fabulous as a good margarita and this refreshing drink is perfect for a summer party, happy hour or a Cinco de Mayo feast!

The frozen avocado margarita is quite popular and a bit famous at the Disney Epcot restaurant La Cava del Tequila. It’s a must have when you visit Walt Disney World and you’re “drinking around the world” in Epcot.

Although quite different from our classic margarita recipe, it’s just as fun and full of yum!

Why You’ll Love this Cocktail

Who knew avocado cocktails were a thing? This is the only one I’ve ever made, but I see more in my future because avocados are one of my favorite things to eat. All those healthy fats, why not get them by drinking a cocktail?

Avocado margaritas are a delicious drink with a smooth and creamy texture. The tequila gives this cocktail nice a kick, while the lime juice and salt add zing.

The best part? This drink is very easy to make for a single serve drink or in batches to serve up for Cinco de Mayo cocktails.

So, grab your friends and family and wow them with this famous avocado margarita.

Best Tequila for Avocado Margaritas Recipe

A smooth gold tequila is my choice. It’s a little spicier with less bite than a white tequila. It’s aged in oak barrels to give it a little more smokey flavor.

You can also use a Blanco tequila (also called silver tequila or white tequila) is the least expensive variety of tequila and it has stronger bite and sweet taste. It’s the most common type of tequila used for a blended margarita. And is still perfect for mixed drinks because it won’t compete with other flavors in the cocktail.

I always say, the best tequila is the one you like best!

Ingredients

Here’s the list of ingredients for an avocado margarita:

Tequila: A smooth Gold Tequila or a Blanco Tequila (also known as white tequila or silver tequila) will work perfectly.

Melon Liqueur: is sweet with a honeydew melon flavor.

Fresh Lime Juice: juice a medium to large lime to get 1 ounce of lime juice.

Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup: both are acceptable to use to add the sweetness to the otherwise tart ingredients in this drink.

Orange Liqueur: add Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier to give this drink a little orange citrus flavor. Grand Marnier is a smooth orange liqueur and the one I recommend.

Fresh Avocado: you’ll need a medium size avocado, using half an avocado per drink.

Lime Wedge: use a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass

Margarita Salt: It’s up to you which kind you want to use. I’m using Tajin Clasico Chile Lime Seasoning Salt. The chili powder in the salt mixture adds a little extra spiciness. You can also use regular margarita salt or kosher salt.

Garnish: I’m using lime slices and a jalapeno slice.
