The best breakfast in Key Largo is hands down the local diner located directly on the Overseas Highway. The old Florida Keys vibe is welcoming, the service is friendly and the food is amazing. Harriette’s is one of the best Key Largo restaurants and here’s why you don’t want to miss this great food stop.
Harriette’s Restaurant in Key Largo
If you’re looking for a great breakfast Harriette’s is one of those landmark restaurants you have to experience. Located at Mile Marker 95.7 (on the bay side of the highway), it’s an old family home renovated into a quaint little restaurant. Plenty of spots in the parking lot and the food is reasonably priced (especially for the Florida Keys!). It’s not a hidden gem, but it’s a gem of old Florida.
Harriette’s is a good old fashion type diner, this isn’t a fine dining spot. It’s one of those friendly restaurants with a homey atmosphere. Seriously, you’ll feel right at home here.
It’s quite popular every morning which means you might need to wait a few minutes for a seat, but the wait is worth it.
If you opt for counter top seating, the wait is typically shorter. My friends and I were hungry, so we chose counter top seating and enjoyed chatting with the employees behind the counter. Plus, it’s a great place for watching all the delicious food coming out of the bustling kitchen. Pure mouth watering, but it did make it harder to choose what to order for breakfast!
Best Key Largo Breakfast Menu
Since breakfast is their specialty, there are plenty of options for everyone. Good old fashioned Southern favorites to healthy high protein dishes. Typical offerings such as pancakes and French toast are available and their specialties are unique. There’s even a conch fritters served with eggs and typically on the weekend specials you can get a conch eggs benedict.
Our group ordered a variety and everyone enjoyed their meal. The biscuits are huge and absolutely baked to perfection. You can try them with various toppings from sausage gravy to chipped beef gravy. The chipped beef gravy went over well with our group. If you love biscuits, don’t pass these up.
The breakfast burrito is heaping full of goodness and The Hangover Cure comes with pancakes, eggs, sausage or bacon. Omelettes galore too. You simply can’t go wrong here. They also offer a breakfast a la carte menu so you can get a bite of everything you want.
Specialty Breakfast Muffins
Harriette’s is most famous for their unique and delicious muffins. They’ve taken breakfast baking to a whole new level.
The variety of muffin flavors is extensive! Mango, pumpkin, apple pie, cinnamon swirl and the list goes on. The most famous and popular flavor? Key Lime muffins! This is the flavor of a key lime pie made into a muffin. Talk about delicious!
After eating your hot meal, why not take the best breakfast in Key Largo with you? Before you leave, order a few extra of those Key Lime muffins to go. You can’t find them this good anywhere else!
I know when you’re in the Florida Keys finding the best food and best view are top of the list. Harriette’s is the best breakfast restaurant but there isn’t a view.
No outdoor seating or water views, simply a roadside diner with delicious food. Save the view for your evening in Key Largo and try out this restaurant for the best happy hour, great food and a gorgeous sunset view.
Harriett’s offers lunch until 3pm every day. There are plenty of options plus the specials for the day are written on the dry erase board. They serve typical lunch foods like burgers, patty melts, and Reuben sandwiches. Along with sides such as french fries, onion rings and cole slaw.
I haven’t had the chance to taste anything from the lunch menu. I visit Key West a few times a year and when I drive down the Florida Keys, I hit Harriett’s in Key Largo during the breakfast hours. I’m sure the afternoon menu is full of good food, but I know for sure it’s the best breakfast in Key Largo.
