What is Sangria?

It’s a delicious wine-based drink that originates from Spain and Portugal. Typically, a red wine with fruit and sweetener, but sangria has evolved to using all shades of wines plus additions of flavored liquors. The combinations are practically endless!

One key component of sangria is allowing the chopped fruit, wine and other added ingredients to meld together before drinking. Once the sangria is mixed, it’s important to refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let all the flavors enhance before serving.

What White Wine is Good for Sangria?

Pino Grigio is delicious for Sangria because it has light hints of melon or apple flavors that mix perfectly with apple cider.

If you enjoy a sweeter wine, Moscato is a good choice in sangria. As well as Rieslings, which are sweeter but not as sweet as a Moscato.

Often, the best choice is the white wine you already know you love.

Caramel Apple Cider Sangria Ingredients

Deliciously easy, this Caramel Apple Cider Sangria only needs 5-6 ingredients. Here’s everything you’ll need:

Caramel Vodka – here’s where you’ll get the caramel flavors along with the boozy kick.

Spiced Apple Cider – apple cider with spices like nutmeg and cinnamon which gives this sangria a little bit of an apple pie flavor.

White Wine – I’m using a Pinot Grigio, a lightly sweet and fruity wine.

Club Soda – helps keep the sangria from becoming too sweet and adds a little effervescence.

Fresh Apples – use red apples which are sweeter than green apples.

Fresh Pear (optional) – adds to the fall colors of the sangria and are delicious after soaking up the sangria flavors.

Step 2: Chop a fresh pear. This is an optional ingredient, but a good one! The mix of apple and pear chunks is tasty in this sangria and adds a bit of color.

Step 3: Find a large pitcher to mix your sangria. I’m using my blender her, but there is no blending! It’s just easier than my tall skinny carafe.

Add the chopped apples and pear to a pitcher.

Step 4: Add Apple Cider, Caramel Vodka and White Wine into the pitcher.
