What is Trop Rock Music?
Trop Rock music captures the essence of the laid back lifestyle through songs with a tropical vibe. Mixing influences from Jazz, Country, Reggae, Rock, Island sounds and of course, the man with out a definitive genre, Jimmy Buffett. Although, we'd say Jimmy Buffett is the origin of popular Trop Rock music, it's a genre name most mainstream radio and music listeners haven't heard.
With hundreds of solo musicians and full bands fitting into Trop Rock genre, the Trop Rock Music Association was formed in 2005 to bring these artists and their fans together with formal recognition of the Trop Rock genre and a platform to recognize the efforts of these talented musicians and artist.
