If you love vodka cocktails, you’ll love this French Martini recipe. The Chambord French Martini is a favorite vodka martini drink as opposed to traditional martinis which are made with dry gin.
The chilled sweet flavors of berries and pineapple make for an easy sipping cocktail topped with fresh raspberries. The slightly sweet and tart pineapple juice with raspberry French liqueur is one of my favorite cocktails. These flavors are a delectable combination.
Consider it a fruity twist on the vodka martini, born out of the 80s cocktail craze in New York. The original recipe for the French Martini is a classic cocktail created in the 1980’s by a bar owner in New York and is now among popular cocktails served at most establishments.
The best part is, you can make it as strong or as sweet as you’d like at home when you’re making your new favorite vodka martini. Make sure you try these amazing Peanut Butter and Jelly shots also made with Chambor and garnished with raspberries too.
What is the Best Vodka for a Chambord French Martini?
One of the key ingredients in this classic recipe is a smooth vodka to pair with the Chambord and juicy pineapple.
Choose a high quality vodka so you don’t have any bitter alcohol bite. A great choice for a smooth vodka is Grey Goose, although expensive. I also suggest Kettle One vodka and find it to be equally smooth at a more reasonable price point.
What does Chambord Liqueur Taste Like?
It’s a smooth and sweet raspberry flavor with a touch of a vanilla and honey taste.
Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur is a French raspberry liqueur from the Loire Valley in France that contains real raspberries, blackberries and blackcurrants. After several weeks of infusion, the flavors of black raspberries, honey and vanilla along with cognac are added.
It has flavors from far off exotic places. Chambord uses Madagascar vanilla and Moroccan citrus peels. To add even more quality, the cognac is aged for 10 years in oak barrels before being mixed with all the sweet flavors.
Overall, it’s very sweet to the taste and when you open the bottle it smells like summer berries. It’s delicious to sip on by itself over ice and mixes well with a number of mixers.
