Easy Recipe for Apple Pie Moonshine.

Big batch cocktails are a must for our parties and flavored moonshine recipes are such an easy way to serve cocktails to everyone.

We also love our Blackberry Moonshine and Pumpkin Pie Moonshine, but our go-to moonshine recipe is always this Apple Pie Moonshine. It is the most requested cocktail at our local house concert events and it’s so good that an award winning singer/songwriter wrote a song about it.

It does take some pre-planning to have this moonshine ready for an event, so make sure you allot enough time to let it age before serving. Our guests simply love it and specifically ask if we’ll be making up a batch for a party, so it’s worth it to make everyone so happy.

What is Grain Alcohol?

The base for a homemade moonshine recipe is grain alcohol, most commonly known by the brand name Everclear. On it’s own, this liquor is harsh to drink and you’re not supposed to. It’s meant to be a raw ingredient, not a finished product. Made from grain, this liquor is clear and unflavored. Of course, you can taste the liquor and feel the burn if consumed directly! What I mean is… it’s a neutral flavor as there are no spices, oak barrel aging or fruity tastes.

This non-flavor liquor is perfect for making moonshine because it absorbs whatever flavors it is infused with. In this case, we’ll infuse it with the flavors of apple pie and call it moonshine. Here’s what the bottle looks like if you haven’t seen it before.

Liter bottle of Everclear.

You should be able to find the 190 Proof Everclear at one of your local liquor stores. Although, several states have banned the sale of 190 proof liquor. The manufacturers of Everclear were not deterred and now makes a 189 proof liquor. Pretty ingenious, I’d say!

How to Make Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe

Making Apple Pie Moonshine is actually easier than it sounds. Of course, this is the legal way to make moonshine! All the ingredients are already for sale at the liquor store. We’re just combining and flavoring the liquor into this delicious apple pie drink.

Along with the grain alcohol, you’ll need granular sugar, apple juice and cinnamon sticks. Although it’s easy to a make, it does take time.  Allowing time for the grain alcohol to absorb the apple pie flavor is key and will take at least 2 weeks to age, but 3 weeks is even better. It’s worth it though! Soon you’ll have a the most popular drink at the party.

We most commonly serve this recipe as Apple Pie Moonshine Shots. It’s perfect for a tasty shot and we serve it in disposable shot glasses when we have a crowd. It’s also delicious when mixed ginger ale for a sparkling cocktail.

ive never had a problem storing it. at 80-90 proof it should be fine. if your really concerned you could heat the sealed jar to about 150 degrees for 10-15 minutes. that will pasteurize it
