Best Key West Restaurants Near Southernmost Point

Share With Your Friends!

Key West restaurants are plentiful, but the best restaurants are the ones the locals love.

If you are staying at the Casa Marina or near the Southernmost Point area, these restaurants are within an easy walk or bike ride. Or if you’re simply looking for the best experiences away from the more touristy areas, then these Key West restaurants are ideal.

Here you’ll find excellent local cuisine and color, plus you might save a few bucks along the way.

Ana’s Cuban Cafe

Let’s start with breakfast, shall we? For a great, inexpensive meal al fresco (on their porch), try Ana’s Cuban Cafe. I rarely pass by Ana’s in the morning and not stop in for a bite.

This is a cute little place on the corner of Simonton and South Street. Nothing fancy here, just great food. You order at the counter, wait for your name to be called, then enjoy a traditional breakfast or a Cuban specialty.

Lunch is a treat here, as well, and I know of no other place in Key West where one can buy a cold coconut – yum!key-west-cuban

Camille’s Key West Restaurant

About a block and a half down Simonton heading towards Old Town are two revered Key West restaurants. The food is not only excellent, but the prices are fair for the huge portions they serve.

The pink building houses Camille’s at 1202 Simonton and you can have a scrumptious breakfast for far less than one of my favorite (but pricey) breakfast meals at the outdoor place with the chickens!

Lunch and dinner are winners here, as well. Blackened fish, burgers, thin crust pizzas and their pastas are all great choices. Camille’s prides themselves on serving the freshest ingredients and purchase their seafood daily.

Abbondanza Italian Restaurant

Next door is Abbondanza, which is a wonderful place for Italian food. Hours are for dinner only, but they are open 4:30 – 10:30, so you can grab some great pasta dishes before heading out into the Key West evening.

Abbondanza is a favorite place for locals and has been recognized several times as the best restaurant in Key West. The address is 1208 Simonton.

I suggest the familiar spaghetti and meat sauce to soak up any alcohol in your blood stream if you’ve been out enjoying happy hour in Key West.

All their dishes are is terrific and they have a good wine list (which can be hard to find on the island).

Salute! On The Beach

Another wonderful restaurant for a variety of food, even Italian, is Salute! On The Beach.

I recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet respite from all Duval St. craziness. At Salute!, you can enjoy your meal with a beach view. Dining is outside here and they feature Key West pink shrimp, a favorite local delicacy.

Lunch is from 11:30 to 4:30 and dinner commences shortly after, from 5:00 until 9:30. You can find Salute! at 1000 Atlantic Blvd. with ample parking available in the area. salute-shrimp-sandwich

Louie’s Backyard

If money is no object and you desire some fabulous food under the Key West stars, then stumble on over to Louie’s Backyard.

Most Parrot Heads know this was the place Jimmy Buffett referenced in his song, “Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season” for bloody mary therapy.

Prices are high here, but it’s known as maybe the top place on the island for fine food and a very memorable dining experience.

Outside in the back you can also enjoy drinks at the After Deck bar and watch a gorgeous Key West sunset.

Louie’s Backyard is very close to the Casa Marina Hotel at 700 Waddell and is open from 11:30 am until 10:00 pm everyday.

El Siboney

I saved the most authentic Key West dining experience near the Casa Marina / Southernmost Point for last. If you want to have a wonderful Cuban meal without flying over to Cuba, find El Siboney.

This unassuming small restaurant is in a residential neighborhood at 900 Catherine St. Open from 11:00 am until 9:30 pm everyday and they offer a varied menu at reasonable prices.

Love a Cuban mix sandwich? This is your spot! El Siboney also offers a daily entree and soup special and almost all their entree plates come with yellow or white rice, black beans and sweet plantain.

Team up some ropa vieja (beef) or chicken with yellow rice, plus a glass of their homemade sangria and your taste buds will be in Cuban heaven.

If you’re ready for great local cuisine, try any or all of these Key West restaurants. They’re either a pleasant walk or short bike ride from the Southernmost end of the island and you’ll be rubbing elbows with locals.

Your tummy will thank you!
