Party time! This is a delicious jello shot recipe. Pineapple jello shots have such a fun vibe! You can serve these up for pool parties, birthday celebrations, summer parties or backyard BBQs.

Jello shots are always in abundance at football to concert tailgate parties and since I’ve attended my share of Jimmy Buffett concerts, I’ve slurped quite a few jello shots!

Some jello flavors are a little odd (in my opinion), but these pineapple jello shots taste tropical, smooth and a bit like a Caribbean island. For more tastes of the tropics, check out these favorite tropical style jello shots, Watermelon Jello Shots made with Malibu Watermelon Rum or these Pina Colada Jello Shots.

I’ll just give you fair warning now, you’ll need to make more than one batch because no one ever wants just one!

Regular Vodka or Pineapple Vodka?

When it comes to making pineapple jello shots I’m all about easy recipes. More importantly, I really want a better-tasting jello shot than the typical vodka and jello combination.

This is where yummy flavored vodkas really work well. For this recipe, I recommend Svedka Mango Pineapple vodka, which is widely available and a very affordable vodka. This vodka tastes very tropical. Yum!

Svedka Vodka comes in a bunch of different flavors and it’s easy to match them up with the corresponding jello flavors. It’s the best vodka because you can easily match it to all your favorite jello shot flavors.

Svedka makes a Strawberry Lemonade flavor that goes great with strawberry jello. The citron, raspberry and strawberry lemonade are good for a fruity vodka. Here’s our Blue Raspberry Jello Shots recipe if you want to make another fun variety.

And yes, you can always use regular vodka with pineapple jello, but I really like the flavored vodka best to add more tropical flavors.

Pineapple Jello Shot Garnishes

There are so many great garnishes for these pineapple mango jello shots!

Fresh Fruit

Fresh pineapple slices are my favorite and you can use the pineapple from a can or cut up a fresh pineapple for bigger pineapple slices. Maraschino cherries or strawberries go really well with these pineapple vodka jello shots. Or go for a little more exotic and add slices of mango or kiwi fruit.

Pineapple Gummy Rings

Another fun option are Pineapple Rings, which are sugar coated sour gummies that make a cute garnish. Or add a pineapple gummy bear on top! Both these options make these pineapple vodka jello shots just a little more filling for a cocktail / appetizer combo.

Make them Tropical Style

Of course, I love these pineapple straws! Now, we’re not drinking the jello shot through the straws. They add cute ambiance especially if you’re hosting a Hawaiian Luau style party and they are actually useful in loosening the pineapple jello shots so you and your friends don’t look too silly trying to scoop them out with your tongue!

Tropical drink umbrellas would also look cute. They always make the party a little more fun.

If you’re serving these in your own home, it’s easy to decorate them with different super cute ideas. But, if you’re taking them to an outdoor event, it’ll be easier to just snap the lid on the mini shot cups and toss them in a cooler where they stay cold until served.

Pineapple Jello Shot Directions

Put your pot on the stove, pull out your measuring cup and gather your ingredients. Let’s make this yummy jello shot recipe. These shots will be ready in a flash.

At the bottom of the page is the printable ingredients and directions.

Step 1: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a medium pot.

Step 2: Add the packet of pineapple jello powder to the boiling water and mix well until completely dissolved.

Step 3: Remove the pot from the stove.

Step 4: Add 1 cup Vodka (Svedka Mango Pineapple Vodka) to the gelatin mixture and stir well.

Step 5: Arrange your jello shot cups on a baking sheet or mini muffin tins. This makes it easier to move the shot glasses in and out of the refrigerator.

Step 6: Pour the mixture into the cups. I find it easiest to use a ladle with pouring spouts, like this ladle on Amazon. You can also pour the mixture from the saucepan into a measuring cup, then pour into the plastic cups.

Step 7: Place shots in the refrigerator until they set up. This should take 2-4 hours (every refrigerator is a little different).

Step 8: Garnish with sliced pineapple rings or fresh pineapple wedges.

Step 9: Decorate with pineapple paper straws, which also helps your friends loosen up the jello when eating!

How many Jello Shots in a 3oz Box?

The 3 oz box will yield about 12 shots in 2 oz jello shot cups – depending on how full you fill each cup. You can simply double this recipe to make more.

If you want to make several batches, I would suggest you double this recipe and then make multiple batches as needed.

How Long Do Pineapple Jello Shots Take To Set?

This is a plan ahead kind of alcohol drink!

Of course, how long your jello shots take to set will depend on various factors. The size of cups you use (typically 1 oz or 2 oz) and the temperature of your fridge (and how many times you open it!). For me, 2 oz jello shots take about 2 1/2 hours to set well.

To be on the safe side, you can easily make them 1-2 days beforehand and you know they’ll be ready. When you’re leaving the jello shots in the fridge longer than a few hours, I would put the lids on the shot cups. It’ll keep the top of the jello shot moist.

How Long are Pineapple Jello Shots Good For?

These are good for up to 4 days if kept chilled.

Once you take them out of the fridge, they should be consumed within the next 30 minutes. Pineapple jello shots are extra delicious when they are good and cold!
