SPICED RUM: Grab your favorite brand of spiced rum to add a warm and spicy flavor to this drink.
VANILLA RUM: Sweet and smooth, the light vanilla flavor is a must have for a Key Lime Colada.
KEY LIME JUICE: Grab a bag of key limes from the store to get the sweeter citrus flavor.
CREAM OF COCONUT: Very sweet and creamy which gives this cocktail full flavor and thickness.
PINEAPPLE JUICE: My favorite sweet and tropical fruit juice!
PINA COLADA MIX: Just a touch to add a little more tropical flavor and enhance the creaminess of this drink.
GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMBS: For rimming the glass, these little crumbs add the graham cracker crust flavor that is a must have to complete the key lime pie flavor.
GARNISH: Choose your favorite garnishes. Add fresh pineapple wedges, maraschino cherry, a slice of lime or lime wheel. And every tropical cocktail looks fabulous garnished with a few pineapple leaves.
ICE CUBES: Crushed ice is added to your blender to get the perfect consistency.

Variations and Substitutions
I love making this Key Lime Colada recipe for my friends! Here are a few variations you can make:
- Substitute the vanilla rum with a coconut rum for a more coconut flavor,
- Add a splash of grenadine or strawberry syrup for a fruity twist.
- Garnish with whipped cream on top.
- Dress it up and serve in a hurricane glass.
What is the Difference Between Limes and Key Limes?
Key limes have an incredible flavor. These little citrus fruits may be small, but they pack a punch with their more acidic and complex flavor profile compared to regular limes. Their tart and tangy flavor is balanced with a sweet aroma.
Regular limes are larger with thicker skin. They have a milder and more straightforward taste.
Savor the tropical flavors of this Key Lime Colada while soaking up the sun by the pool or, enjoy it on a lazy afternoon while daydreaming about the sandy beaches of the Florida Keys.
Cheers!
