What is RumChata?

RumChata is a unique, delicious and refreshing mix of liquor, spices and cream. It’s flavorful, easy-to-drink and creates a distinctly different type of cocktail.

This rum-cream liqueur is a blend of aged Caribbean rum, cream from Wisconsin along with cinnamon and vanilla spices to create a sweet sipping liqueur that is delicious on it’s own or with a variety of mixers.

It even tastes amazing in this Rumchata Hot Chocolate.

RumChata White Russian Ingredients

A RumChata White Russian needs 4 ingredients and two optional ingredients for the glass rim. Here’s the list of ingredients you’ll need:

  • RumChata
  • Kahlua
  • Vodka
  • Half & Half or Heavy Cream
  • Simple Syrup for rim (optional)
  • Cinnamon Sugar for rim (optional)
  • The perfect lowball cocktail glasses (these glasses work great from Amazon)

RumChata White Russian Directions

Easy step-by-step instructions to make a delish RumChata White Russian:

Step 1: Dip the rim of your glass in Simple Syrup then coat the rim with Cinnamon Sugar.

This step is optional, but it’s so good, I wouldn’t skip it!

Dipping rim of the glass in cinnamon sugar spice.

Step 2: Fill your glass with ice.

I filled the glass to the top with ice and as you pour ingredients into your glass, some of it will slightly melt leaving enough room for all the ingredients.

Step 3: Add 1.5 – 2 ounces of RumChata. I love the taste of RumChata, so I used 2 ounces.

Pouring Rumchata into glass.

Step 4: Add 1 ounce of cream. You can use Half & Half or if you want your drink even creamier, use Heavy Whipping Cream.

Tip: I do not suggest using milk as it’s not thick enough to create the creamy texture needed for a good RumChata White Russian.

Pouring cream into glass.

Step 5: Add a .5 ounce of vodka.

Since RumChata has a lower alcohol content, the vodka gives it the boozy kick it needs.

Pouring Vodka into glass.

Step 6: Add 1 ounce of Kahlua or your favorite brand of Coffee Liqueur and stir.

You can use up to 1.5 ounces of Kahlua. I lean towards less coffee liqueur and only used 1 ounce. Kahlua has a strong coffee flavor and too much will overpower the cinnamon flavor from the RumChata.

Step 7: Add additional ice if needed to fill the glass.

Enjoy!
