The Coquito Drink is Puerto Rico Eggnog that tastes amazing! Made with coconut cream, milk and rum – it’s delicious eggnog with an island flare.
Coquito Drink Recipe
The Coquito is a Caribbean Christmas drink mixed with rum, the favorite island liquor.
In the U.S. we typically make eggnog made with bourbon, in Britain it’s made with sherry and in Puerto Rico the Coquito drink is a “nog” style drink made with coconut and rum.
The non-egg recipe is the way to go, so I’m sharing the popular island drink recipe sans eggs and it’s truly a Christmas rum drink delight!
Coquito Drink Ingredients:
- 1 can of Cream of Coconut (I use the 15 0z. can of Coco Lopez)
- 1 can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz. can)
- 1 can of Evaporated Milk (14 oz. can)
- 8 oz. of light Rum
- 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
- Nutmeg to sprinkle on top for garnish and taste
How to Make a Coquito Drink
- Blend all ingredients except nutmeg in the blender.
- Refrigerate until cold.
- Pour into small glass.
- Sprinkle Nutmeg on top and serve.
How Long Does Coquito Last in the Fridge?
Coquito will last 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
Well, now we know that rum and Cream of Coconut aren’t only used for Pina Colada’s (<– this is the recipe we found in Mexico and it’s still the best we’ve ever tasted)!
The rum and coconut combination is certainly an island taste and it’s fun to bring it into the Christmas holidays in what feels like a traditional nog style drink.
Just because you may not be spending Christmas in a tropical paradise, why not serve up this Coquito drink cocktail and pretend you are?
Hey Tammy,
We tried your recipe for Coquito last Saturday night. Our guests that tried it liked it. The drink is a little sweet for drinking more than one or two, but it is really festive for holiday parties. About how long can you keep it in the frig? We have about two more drinks left, and did not want to throw it away.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Allyn
Hi Aloha Allyn! Glad your guests like the drink! If too sweet for your tastes, maybe replace some of the sweetened condensed milk with additional evaporated milk? There aren’t any raw ingredients in this recipe so you should be able to keep it in the fridge for at least 4-5 days. Thanks for trying out our recipes! Merry Christmas to you too!
