Cajun Chocolate Cake: Delicious Twist on Chocolate Cake

This Cajun Chocolate Cake recipe is a seriously mouthwatering take on a traditional chocolate cake dessert.

Cajun Chocolate Cake

In my family, this is the most requested dessert. My mother-in-law made this often for our family and now the responsibility has fallen to me. My daughter, the lovely lady who runs this blog, needs to learn how to make it! 

It’s a recipe we’ve now enjoyed for over 50 years. I hope your family enjoys it as long as we have.

Cajun Chocolate Cake Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • Tablespoons Powdered Chocolate Cocoa
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soada
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1. tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  • 2 Eggs

Cajun Chocolate Cake Frosting Ingredients:

  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 6 Tbsp. of whole Milk
  • 3 Tbsp. Chocolate Powdered Cocoa
  • 16 oz. of white powdered sugar

Cajun Chocolate Cake Directions:

In your mixer add the following:
2 Cups Sugar
2 Cups Flour
Blend together slowly until mixed

In Small sauce pan put:
2 Sticks Butter
2 Tablespoons Powdered Chocolate Cocoa
1 Cup Water
Bring to a just to a boil mixing together, pour over sugar and flour mixture and mix until blended well.

Next, add:
1 tsp. of Baking Soda
1 tsp. of Cinnamon
1 tsp. of Vanilla
1/2 Cup of Buttermilk
2 Eggs
Mix well about 1 minute. Bake in greased and floured pan, or spray with flour Pam.
Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.

Cajun Chocolate Frosting

Bring to boil in small sauce pan:
1 Stick Butter
6 Tbsp. of whole Milk
3 Tbsp. Chocolate Powdered Cocoa
In mixing bowl put 16 oz. of white powdered sugar and pour over the boiling mixture and mix well.

Pour over cake while warm (not hot).
