Pina Colada Fruit Dip is the perfect creamy dessert dip to make during the summer. A mix of piña colada flavors of coconut, pineapple and rum, this adults-only sweet dip is one that’s hard not to eat by the spoonful. I do have a special appreciation and fondness for dessert dips since there’s no baking required and you end up with the perfect, sweet, and refreshing treat.

No bake desserts, like Rainbow Rice Krispie Treats are a great way to make a dessert without having to turn the oven on and heat up the house, especially helpful in the hot, humid summers!

Piña Colada Fruit Dip Recipe Ingredients

WHIPPED TOPPING: the smaller 8-ounce tub of cool whip is all you need for this recipe. You can also mix some marshmallow creme in with the whipped topping and cream cheese to make an even more decadent dip

RUM: I used Captain Morgan Private Stock Rum, but a coconut or pineapple flavored rum would go extremely well in this piña colada fruit dip.

COCONUT MILK: I used coconut milk for this recipe and like how it came out each time I tested it. However, I have seen some other recipes that use cream of coconut or coconut cream. While I haven’t tested those ideas in this recipe, if it sounds like something you wanna try, you can give them a whirl the next time you go to make this yummy dip.

CREAM CHEESE: I used the regular cream cheese spread but you can use the whipped cream cheese if that’s your favorite.

CRUSHED PINEAPPLE: Canned crushed pineapple brings that fantastic pineapple flavor to this dip. Make sure to chill it first so it’s good and cold.

MARASCHINO CHERRY: the perfect garnish to your piña colada,  just like you would garnish this creamy piña colada drink

COCONUT FLAKES: Included in the fruit dip mix, then you can add as little or as much as you like for garnishing on top.

DIPPING OPTIONS: Fresh fruit such as pineapple, strawberries (of course!) and wafers or cookies.

How to Make Easy Piña Colada Fruit Dip

STEP 1: In a medium bowl combine the whipped topping, cream cheese, chilled crushed pineapple and coconut milk. Mix together

STEP 2: Add 6 ounces of the coconut flakes to your mixing bowl, ensuring that you leave some for garnish later.

 

STEP 3: Add a shot of spiced rum and mix well.

 

STEP 4: Pour the dip in the serving bowl and add the remaining coconut flakes and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Step 5: Then get cute with it! Dress up your pina colada fruit dip like you would a pina colada drink! Add a couple tropical drink umbrellas and a festive straw.

 

 

Can I Make it Without Rum?

Of course! If you need to make this dip kid-friendly, simply omit the rum. It’s still going to taste fantabulous.

How to Store

This no bake treat needs to be refrigerated when not serving and should not sit out longer than 2 hours as the ingredients could spoil. Any kind of dessert dip using perishable ingredients should be kept in the refrigerator until you’re ready to put it out for guests.

For left overs, store your Pina Colada Fruit Dip in an airtight container or in a sealed bowl in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

What Do You Eat With Pina Colada Dip?

Dessert dips are great, you can dip your favorite fruit in them, or just about anything you want! Here are a few super easy ideas:

  • Fresh fruit chunks, slices or a fruit tray. Fruits like fresh pineapple, fresh strawberries, apples, grapes, cherries, kiwi slices and banana chips.
  • All kinds of crackers: graham crackers, animal crackers, pretzels etc.
  • Cookies and Treats: Oreos, Golden Oreos, Vanilla Wafers and Brownie Bites.
  • And it’s the perfect time to serve up these creamy pina coladas too!

Can You Make This Dip Ahead of Time?

The wonderful thing about this dip is you can make it about a day or two max ahead of time. Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days max, or store it in a bowl tightly wrapped with plastic wrap.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce Whipped Topping (whipped cream)
  • 8 ounce Cream Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Milk
  • 20 ounce Can Crushed Pineapple (chilled)
  • 1.5 ounces Spiced Rum (Captain Morgan)
  • 7 ounce Bag Coconut Flakes
  • Maraschino Cherry
  • Fruit & Cookies for Dunking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine whipped topping, cream cheese, coconut milk and pineapple.
  2. Add 6 ounces coconut flakes, leaving some for garnish later.
  3. Pour in 1 shot of your favorite spiced rum. Mix well.
  4. Pour into a serving bowl and top with the remaining coconut flakes and add a cherry on top.
  5. Dress it up like a pina colada by adding a festive straw and tropical drink umbrellas.
