Ingredients Needed

NUTTER BUTTER COOKIES: I recommend using the regular Nutter Butters, but you can use any off brand if necessary. Additionally, you could use a few milano cookies.

ALMOND BARK MELTING CHOCOLATE SQUARES: You can use melted white chocolate if you can’t find or don’t have almond bark.

RED SPRINKLES: Use these to make Santa’s hat.

BLACK DECORATIVE ICING: This is what we use to make the eyes and nose on the Santa

WHITE DECORATIVE ICING: This is for the white ball part of Santa’s hat.

How to Make Santa Nutter Butter Cookies

STEP 1: Line your baking sheet with some parchment paper.

STEP 2: Using a microwave safe bowl, melt 3 squares of white chocolate almond bark for 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.

STEP 3: Once melted, dip half of each cookie in the chocolate to make Santa’s beard and place it on the baking sheet. Once all cookies are done, refrigerate them for 10 minutes so the almond bark can set.

STEP 4: Now, dip the other half of the cookie in the almond bark and dip in the red sprinkles to make Santa’s hat. Don’t dip the cookie all the way to the top of the white, leave a little of the white chocolate showing to create Santa’s hat trim.

STEP 5: Get the black icing out and use a toothpick to draw a small mouth and two black dots for Santa’s eyes on each cookie.

STEP 6: Finally, squeeze a small dot of white icing on the top of Santa’s hat.

How to Store

These Nutter Butter Santa Cookies should be stored in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days. They’re better when you enjoy them sooner rather than later. Additionally, you should store them in one layer if possible. If you store them in layers, you must use a piece of wax paper or parchment paper in between the layers so you don’t mess up the beautiful creation you made during the decorating process.

Variations

Here are a few other ways that you can make these cute Nutter Butter Christmas cookies.

  • Instead of almond bark, you can melt white chocolate chips, white candy melts, or other white baking chocolate in a double boiler.
  • If you don’t want to use the black icing, you can use candy eyes.
  • Don’t have red sanding sugar? You can use red candy melts to use on Santa’s hat on top of the melted almond bark.
  • You can also use a mini marshmallow for the pom-pom part of Santa’s hat.
  • Use a red mini M&M to create a red nose.

Can You Freeze These Christmas Cookies?

Yes, you can freeze these decorated cookies. Once you have finished creating the Santa cookies, transfer them to a freezer safe container with parchment paper in between layers and freeze for up to 2-3 months.
