  • Heart-Shaped Board: Use a heart-shaped wooden board or a heart shaped candy box. Both are perfectly Valentine-themed. I’m using the lid of an inexpensive heart candy box like this one on Amazon. You can also find these at dollar stores a few weeks before the holiday. No mess, simply throw away after using.
  • Heart Cookie Cutters: You’ll need a large, small, and mini heart-shaped cookie cutter to make the same designs on this Valentine’s Day charcuterie board. Feel free to add as many heart-shaped foods as you like – nothing’s stopping you!
  • Drinking Glass: You’ll need a glass to use as the form for making the salami roses.
  • Small Bowls: Use small bowls for any tiny sweet treats you add so they are easily contained.

Cheeses

Cheese is a classic charcuterie board staple. Pick your favorite cheeses to pair with cured meats.

  • Cut each cheese into different shapes to achieve a fancy look. Cut the soft cheese like Brie and Colby Jack into heart shapes. As for the hard cheeses like cheddar and blue cheese, chop them into cubes.
  • Pepper Jack, Manchego Spanish Cheese, and blueberry goat cheese will make an excellent addition to this delicious charcuterie board.

Meats

Add a variety of meats for different flavors and textures.

  • Make pretty salami roses to decorate for Valentine’s Day.
  • Include Genoa salami for its bright and tangy flavor and uncured sweet Sopressata for its sweetness.
  • Also use uncured sweet Capocollo and Prosciutto.

Fruits

  • Add fresh fruit options to your grazing board for a more flavor.
  • Fresh strawberries, grapes, and raspberries are all a perfect addition. They’ll balance the savory meats and cheeses and also bring in some color.
  • Castelvetrano Italian Green Olives

Crackers

  • Did you find Heart-shaped crackers? Super cute!
  • Grab a mix of plain and flavored crackers like rosemary and sea salt for variety.

Sweet Treats

Valentine’s Day without chocolates? Who are we kidding?

  • You’ll need a few dark chocolate hearts to sprinkle about the board.
  • Add a small bowl of heart-shaped jelly beans or Conversation Hearts.
  • A handful of chocolate covered almonds.
  • Small jar of jam to smother your crackers with before piling on the meats and cheeses.

Make this charcuterie board extra special by adding these good-for-you Cherry chocolate cookies.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use small bowls and skewers to organize your charcuterie platter.
  • Don’t worry too much about the first placement of an item. As you add more, simply shuffle groupings as needed.
  • If using a heart candy box, you can use a moisture-resistant liner on the bottom of the box to keep it dry.
  • When cutting shapes in cheese, like these cheese hearts, make sure the cheese is still cold and slightly tough. It’ll be easier and less messy.

There are so many fun ways to create your own masterpiece! Here are fun ideas to you can add:

  • Include a variety of Valentine candy.
