Is Sangria Very Alcoholic?

Depending on the recipe the alcohol level will vary. Sangria is made with your favorite wines, fresh or frozen fruit, and juices. It is considered a fruit soak punch.

In general the sangria recipes are not overly alcoholic.

Although, in this white peach sangria we are also using a peach vodka. This will increase the alcohol level.

How is Sangria Different from Wine?

Sangria is a type of wine mixed drink, which sets it apart from just a bottle of wine.

Also sangria can be a lot sweeter as it contains fruit juices, sliced fruit, and wine. Some sangria recipes will use a red wine, pinot grigio, etc.

Sangria tends to be a fruity mixed drink that has layers of flavors to it with a mix of fruit.

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Large Pitcher (here’s the glass pitcher I like)
  • Sharp Knife (if using fresh peaches)
  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

All you need are a few simple ingredients to make a sweet white peach sangria:

PEACH VODKA: For this recipe I used a peach lemonade vodka. I found it really helps bring out that refreshing citrus and fruity twist to this sangria.

PEACH WINE: Sweet peach wine is going to add an extra punch of peach flavor to the sangria. I’m using Barefoot Peach Fruitscato. It’s a blend of sweet Moscato with flavors of juicy, ripe peach

V8 MANGO PEACH JUICE: This juice is going to help make it a sweeter sangria as it is made with fruit, yet offers a tart component.

PEACH SLICES: I used canned peaches for this recipe because I love the softer texture and all the peach juice! Of course, you can use fresh peaches, just make sure they are ripe and juicy. White peaches also work well for this recipe too.

SODA WATER (optional): An optional ingredient to add after you’ve poured your sangria into your glasses. All you need is a splash or two and it gives it a refreshing bubbly. You can also use a lemon-lime soda, tonic, club soda or sparkling water.

MINT LEAVES: Garnish your glass with fresh mint leaves. It’s really adds to the senses when sipping.

PEACH RINGS (optional):  I used the classic candy peach rings to add a fun look for this perfect summer drink as a garnish.

Variations

Here are some simple and easy ways to change up this easy peach sangria recipe!

  • If you can’t find peach wine you can reach for a crisp white wine for this recipe such as a sauvignon blanc. It will still make this a delicious white wine sangria recipe, but consider adding in a peach liqueur for a boost of peach flavor.
  • Swap the V-8 peach juice with a peach nectar for added peach sweetness to the sangria pitcher.
  • Add in a shot of peach schnapps for a little bit more booze.
  • Consider adding in some other fruit to add more flavor. Pineapple, mango, strawberries, or even raspberries would be a tasty boozy fruit addition. Any summer fruits could work great for tossing in this cocktail.
  • You can use orange juice instead of peach fruit juice for a mix of fruity flavors to the summer punch.

Tips:

  • If you find your white peach sangria too sweet for your tastes, add a squeeze of citrus to bring it down just a tad. Add just a light squeeze of lemon juice.
  • If you want a sweeter white peach sangria, add 1-2 tablespoons of simple syrup.

Storing

You will want to store your sangria in the fridge until ready to serve. It is best to be served within 24 hours of being made.

The longer the fruit soaks the more flavor they will take on. Try to use up all the sangria within 2-3 days of it being made.
