What is a Daiquiri Cocktail?

The daiquiri is a classic cocktail made with rum, lime juice, and sugar.

The origins of the daiquiri can be traced back to Cuba, where it was first created in 1898!

Invented by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox, who was in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. While hosting a party, he ran out of gin and decided to use the local rum instead. The cocktail was an instant hit.

The daiquiri has evolved, and many variations have been created. The most popular variations is this Strawberry Daiquiri recipe.

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this strawberry mango daiquiri:

MANGOES: One of the star ingredients of this cocktail. You can use either fresh mango or frozen mangoes. I’m using frozen as they are easier to use as well as keep this drink cold.

STRAWBERRIES: Fresh strawberry or frozen strawberries add a sweet and fruity flavor to the drink. Again, I’m using frozen.

WHITE RUM: Light rum is the best type of rum in this cocktail.

TRIPLE SEC: Adds a little more booze and a tiny bit of orange flavoring.

LIME JUICE: Fresh lime juice adds a tart and citrusy flavor to the drink to help balance the sweetness.

SIMPLE SYRUP: To sweeten your cocktail.

How to Make a Mango Strawberry Daiquiri

To make a delicious Mango-Strawberry Daiquiri, follow these step-by-step directions:

STEP 1: Add 1/3 cup frozen mango chunks, 1 ounce of rum, 1/2 ounce of Triple Sec and 1/2 ounce of simple syrup to your blender. Add 1 cup of ice.

Note: if you are using fresh mango chunks, peel and then chop it into small pieces. Be sure to use a ripe mango. If you’re using fresh strawberries, clean and cut off the tops.

Blender with mango chunks inside. Sitting on a large cutting board with a bottle of Bacardi Light Rum and limes.

STEP 2: Blend until mixture is smooth. This should take about a minute or two, depending on the power of your blender. I use this Ninja Blender that has a “frozen drink” button!

Tip: Taste this mixture to see if you want to add additional simple syrup to match your tastes before making the next mix.

STEP 3:  Set aside the mango mixture in a container and rinse your blender.

STEP 4: Add 1 cup ice, 1/3 cup frozen strawberries, 1 ounce of rum, 1/2 ounce of Triple Sec and 1 ounce of simple syrup to your blender (the strawberry mixture needs more simple syrup).

STEP 5:  Blend until mixture is smooth. Again, taste test to see if you want to add any additional lime juice (if it’s too sweet) or syrup (if not sweet enough) for your tastes.

STEP 6: Pour the mixtures in layers. First pour a little of the strawberry mixture into your cocktail glass. Then add the mango mixture. Top it off with the more strawberry mixture. This will give it a fun and unique look.

STEP 7: Garnish with fresh strawberry slices, a lime wheel and a tropical drink umbrella (of course!)

Serve immediately while it is still cold and refreshing. You can also store any leftover mixture in the refrigerator for up to a day.

Additional Garnish Ideas

Garnishes can add color, flavor, and texture to your drink, making it more visually appealing and delicious. Here are some garnishes that go well with this Mango Strawberry Daiquiri:

  • Fresh fruit slices (mango, strawberry, lime)
  • Mint leaves
  • Whipped cream

Can I Make this a Virgin  Strawberry Mango Daiquiri?

If you’re not a fan of alcohol, you can still enjoy the delicious flavors of mango and strawberry in a virgin daiquiri.

Simply omit the rum from the recipe, and add some extra fruit juice to the mix. This will give you a refreshing and fruity drink that’s perfect for any occasion.

Variations

With a little creativity and imagination, you can create a perfect drink that suits your taste and occasion. If you want to add some extra flavor and texture to your Mango Strawberry Daiquiri, you can use some optional add-ons such as:

  • Use all fresh fruits and less simple syrup. The fresh fruits do have a sweeter taste. Keep adding a little simple syrup while blending until you like the amount of sweetness.
  • Coconut Rum: If coconut rum is your favorite, then you’ll love it with these fruits.
  • Pineapple juice: Pineapple juice adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the cocktail and complements the flavors of mango and strawberry.

This Mango Strawberry Daiquiri is full of sweet and fruity flavors, creating a delicious summer cocktail. Its refreshing, cool, and tropical!
