Ingredients:
Orange Jell0: Yes! We’re actually using orange jello and turning it black. The 3.5 oz box will make about 10 jello shots in this recipe.
Unflavored Gelatin: Unflavored gelatin is what we’ll use to make the white layers.
Boiling Water and Cold Water
Vodka or Whipped Cream Vodka: Use your favorite brand of vodka, but a little higher end vodka makes these jello shots taste better. You can also use Whipped Cream Vodka, since these jello shots have almost a creamsicle like flavor. So, either vodka works great!
Simple Syrup: I use store bough simple syrup, but you can make your own with equal parts sugar and boiled water.
Sweetened Condensed Milk: This gives the white layer it’s color and the creamy flavor. I typically use Eagle Brand Condensed Milk.
Black Gel Food Coloring: We’re turning the orange jello into black jello. This black gel food coloring is darker than the liquid kind.
Lime Green Sprinkles: You can use round sugar pearls or jimmies green sprinkles. Both look and taste great.
Directions
STEP 1: Lineup 10 mini plastic shot glasses on a baking tray, in a muffin tin or any type of serving tray that makes it easy for you to move them in and out if the refrigerator.
STEP 2: Let’s make the first black jello layer. Boil one cup of water in a small saucepan. Pour the boiling water into a microwave safe bowl.
STEP 3: Pour in the orange jello powder and whisk until fully dissolved.
STEP 4: Add 1/2 cup of vodka, 1/2 cup cold water and black gel dye. Whisk until fully combined.
Here’s how it will look once the black food coloring is fully mixed into the jello mixture.
STEP 5: Pour the black jello mixture into the mini plastic cups one quarter of the way up. Place them in the fridge for 30 minutes or until set.
STEP 6: Make the white layer next. Bring another cup of water to a boil then pour the hot water into a medium bowl. Add one packet of unflavored gelatin and whisk until completely dissolved.
STEP 7: Add simple sugar and 3 tablespoons of condensed milk. Pour in 1/4 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of vodka. Stir well.
STEP 8: Pour the white jello mix on top of the black layer, filling the shot glass half way full. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes or until the white layer is set.
STEP 9: Repeat steps 5-8 to make the next two layers. Your layers will be black, white, black and white.
STEP 10: Once all your layers have set, garnish with lime green sprinkles.
