Ingredients

PEAR JUICE: You can find pear juice at most grocery stores. Tip: Look in the baby food aisle or grab this organic pear juice from Amazon.

SPICED APPLE CIDER: Use spiced apple cider to add the delicious warm spiced and tangy zing to the cocktail.

RUM: I’m using a classic white rum, but you are welcome to add even more spice with your favorite spiced rum.

GINGER ALE: The bubbly carbonation really gives this drink that perfect addition along with the ginger flavor.

FRESH PEARS: Use fresh and ripe pears to slice for garnishing your cocktail. Ripe pears have the best sweet flavor.

ROSEMARY: A few sprigs of rosemary will compliment the warm fall spices found in the apple cider.

POMEGRANATE ARILS: The pomegranate seeds (or arils) add a gorgeous pop of color for garnish but they also add another fall flavor to this cocktail.

ICE: You’ll need ice to create a perfectly chilled cocktail for sipping on.

How to Make a Spiced Pear Cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, add pear juice, rum, ice, and spiced apple cider. Shake well.

Pour the mix into a glass filled with ice.

Top with ginger ale.

Add in a few fresh pear slices. I like cut the pear slices thin so they can easily soak up the flavor of this cocktail.

Half a pear and pear slices on a black cutting board.

Garnish with a sprig or two of rosemary and a about 15 pomegranate seeds.

Variations

  • Want a sweeter cocktail? Add a splash of simple syrup for added sweetness.
  • Not a fan of ginger? Swap the ginger ale with club soda or even a lemon-lime soda. This allows you to still enjoy the bubbly without ginger ale.
  • Love ginger? You can replace the ginger ale with ginger beer for an even spicier cocktail.
  • If you don’t have rosemary, a sprig of thyme works well too.
  • Try different liquors. You can swap the rum with your favorite brandy. Or make it with gin to create a spiced pear gin cocktail.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and star anise to play on the fall spices.

Can I Use Pear Nectar Instead of Pear Juice?

You can use pear nectar and still get the delicious pear flavor.

It’ll be thicker and have bits of pear in the drink as nectar isn’t completely strained.

Can I use Canned Pears for Juice?

I don’t recommend using the juice in canned pears since most canned pears are packaged with a very sweet syrup. If the pears are canned with juice only, then it will work for this spiced pear cocktail.

If it is canned in syrup, it is going to be very sweet. Where juice will be lighter.

How to Store Leftovers

I recommend drinking this cocktail freshly made.

If you happen to have some leftovers you can store it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a day. Then stir well and add more ginger ale to liven it back up.

Or you can pour the leftover pear cocktail mix into popsicle molds or ice cube trays. Then freeze for later as a cocktail treat.

If you’re make ice cubes, place in a glass and then pour a splash of rum and fresh ginger ale on top to make a quick and easy cocktail with the leftover mixture.

Enjoy this simple spiced pear cocktail and watch it become your favorite new signature cocktail for the fall season!
