  • 2 ounce Mini Plastic Cups OR 5.5 ounce condiment cups

How Many Jello Shots does this Recipe Make?

If you use the 2 ounce plastic jello shot cups, this recipe will make approximately 14 jell-o shots.

If you want to make large jello shots, use the 5.5 ounce shot glasses, which will make about 7 jello shots.

Ingredients

With just a few simple ingredients, this apple pie jello shot recipe comes together easily.

Unflavored Gelatin: The most common brand is Knox gelatin. It comes in a box of 4 envelopes of unflavored gelatin. For this jello shot recipe, you’ll need 2 envelopes.

Spiced Apple Cider: Use a spiced apple cider which includes warm spices of cloves and nutmeg. These flavors are what makes it taste like apple pie.

Water: 1 cup of boiling water.

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky: Spiced, warm whiskey full of rich flavor.

Apple Whiskey: I use Crown Royal Apple Whiskey, it’s smooth with a mild apple flavor.

Whipped Cream: Creamy and sweet, it’s the perfect topping for these apple cider jello shots. Whipped cream in a can is easiest to work with for adding a quick dollop on top.

Ground Cinnamon: You’ll just need a sprinkle added on top of each jello shot for a fresh topping.

Apple Slices: Small apple slices are perfect garnish adding a little snack to this jello shot recipe.

How to Make Apple Pie Jello Shots

  • Line up your jello shot cups on a baking sheet. It’s much easier to move the jello shots in and out of the refrigerator when they are on a tray.
  • Bring the apple cider and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Pour the apple cider water mix into a heat-safe large bowl, then add in two packets of Knox gelatin. Let sit for 2 minutes. This allows the unflavored gelatin bloom and create a sturdier jello shot.
  • Whisk until all the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.
  • Pour in apple whiskey and cinnamon whisky to the jello mixture. Stir together. Let the mixture cool to room temperature and then pour into the jello shot cups.

  • Place in refrigerator for 2-4 hours or until the jello is completely set. Even better if you can let them set up overnight.
  • Just before serving, slice the apples into apple wedges. Be sure you don’t cut the apples before you’re ready to serve these to keep them fresh and from turning brown.Top each jello shot with a swirl of whipped cream. Add an apple slice and lastly, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon

Variations

  • Replace 1/2 cup of apple whiskey with a complimentary flavored vodka such as Caramel or Vanilla. By doing this, the jello shots will have a softer apple flavor.
  • If you have extra time, once the jello shots are set you can add an extra cinnamon sugar rim for garnish. Simply dip the rim of the plastic shot cups into simple syrup or caramel sauce. Then dab the rim into the cinnamon sugar. Note: once you do this, you can not put the lids back on top as it will knock off all the sugar.
