So colorful, this Hocus Pocus cocktail will add more fun to your Halloween movie nights. A swirl of colors with blue curacao, grenadine and lemonade plus your favorite white liquor.

Bursting with flavor, you’ll enjoy this sweet and tangy cocktail as a fun Halloween-themed drink.

Hocus Pocus cocktail with blue and purple colors in a large cocktail glass garnished with a large gummy eyeball with halloween black netting in the background with a purple shadowbox and silhouette of a witch.

Sip on this Sanderson sisters potion and shout the famous line, “It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus!”

Halloween themed drinks are always a hit with friends and this Hocus Pocus cocktail is delicious.

Turn on your favorite Halloween movie – mine (of course) is the cult classic, original Hocus Pocus  – and join the Sanderson sisters for a night of mischief.

Hocus Pocus Cocktail

Here’s how this delicious drink pulls it all together: The red grenadine represents Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler). The yellow lemonade is for Sarah Sanderson (Sarah Jessica Parker). The blue curacao mixing with the red to get purple, is for Mary Sanderson (Kathy Najimy).

We also made these drinks last year for our Halloween party and it was such a good cocktail, everyone wants them again this year! We’ll top them with gummy eyeballs or maraschino cherries to create the perfect Halloween cocktail.

Want to go all out for the spooky season? Get in the Halloween spirit with a whole Hocus Pocus theme table. Add a black flame candle and these Hocus Pocus cookies or these Hocus Pocus jello shots for all your guests to enjoy.

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Mixing Glass / Cocktail Glass
  • Shot Glass

Ingredients

WHITE LIQUOR: Your choice! Use your favorite vodka, white rum or gin. Personally, I’m using vodka for this recipe.

BLUE CURACAO: Adds an orange citrus flavor as well as the gorgeous color.

GRENADINE: The red Grenadine syrup adds sweetness as well as mixes with the blue curacao to create purple colors.

GARNISH: Add gummy eyeballs or maraschino cherries to top off the look.

How to Make A Hocus Pocus Cocktail

Fill an 8 oz glass full of ice.

Pour the liquor and lemonade into the glass.

Add blue curacao and grenadine. Give it a light stir and it will swirl with colors.

Garnish with your favorite garnishes and enjoy

Tip: Present it without mixing it all together for the stunning presentation. Once you stir it together, it will all be the same purple-ish color.

Tips

  • Use a quality liquor for this recipe. I use Empress gin, Kettle One Vodka or Bacardi Rum.
  • Measure out the ingredients to create a consistent flavorful themed cocktail for your guests.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the cocktail to fit your preference. You can add simple syrup to make it sweeter or a splash of orange juice.

Variations

  • You can use a cocktail shaker to mix up the cocktail, which it will turn out to be a purple hue.
  • Use a punch bowl to serve a crowd. Simply line up the cocktail glasses and let guest pour their own.
  • Swap the grenadine with pomegranate juice or even a grape juice for a dark wicked witchery looking mixed drink.
  • Add a splash of pineapple juice for a tropical twist, or use it in replace of blue curaçao.

Are there Alternatives to Grenadine Syrup?

You can use pomegranate juice or cherry juice in replace of grenadine for this cocktail.

Make sure to add simple syrup as well to get the sweetness.

Can I Make this as a Mocktail?

Yes! Use lemon-lime soda or ginger ale in replace of alcohol. You also must replace the Blue Curacao because it has liquor in it.

Instead, you can use Blue Curacao Syrup to make it a non-alcoholic Halloween drink.

This Hocus Pocus cocktail is the perfect addition to your Halloween celebrations.

Cheers!
