Helpful Tips

  • Simply adding Halloween candies as garnish can turn any of your favorite jello shots into a Halloween themed jello shot. Add gummy worms, gummy eyeballs, etc.
  • Add a spooky rim with black sanding sugar or any color sugar that goes with the jello shot.
  • Black food dye can turn virtually any color jello black, but it works best with darker colors – orange jello, grape jello and red jello.

What is the Best Alcohol for Jello shots?

Vodka is the most commonly used alcohol for making Jello shots because of its neutral flavor, which allows the fruity Jello flavors to shine through.

Also popular are flavored vodkas, tequila, rum and whiskey. Basically, you can use your favorite liquor in your jello shots.

Simply make sure the alcohol goes well with your jello flavor. And remember, dark liquors will alter the color of the final results.

How Long Will Jello Shots Last in the Fridge?

Jello shots will last for 5 days when stored in the refrigerator, but the exact shelf life depends on the ingredients and how well they are sealed.

Basic jello shots with water and vodka can last up to a week in the fridge.

Where as cream-based jello shots (with ingredients like dairy or cream liqueurs) will spoil more quickly and should be consumed within 3 days.

How Much Alcohol is in a Jello Shot?

Typically vodka jello shots contain approximately 1/2 to 1 ounce (15 to 30 milliliters) of alcohol per shot.

Too much alcohol can interfere with the jello’s ability to set properly and may remain too liquid. To ensure your jello shots turn out great, resist the urge to add extra liquor.

All of these are fun Halloween Jello Shots!  You can choose just one or two jello shot ideas or go all out and make a large variety for your guests.

Nothing gets everyone in the spooky spirit like spooky spirits!
